Stroud is a small market town in Gloucestershire that serves as an excellent base for exploring the Cotswolds and other nearby landmarks. There’s plenty to do in Stroud itself, from browsing the farmers’ market to visiting museums and trying out restaurants.
I visit Stroud regularly to see friends and love exploring the quaint, cobbled streets and independent shops in this hilly town in the heart of the Cotswolds. There are some great pubs, and Stroud Brewery is a must-visit if you enjoy real ale.
Apart from the attractions in Stroud, there are some excellent day trips to nearby places. Cotswold villages like Slad and Castle Combe are worth a visit, and cities like Gloucester and Bristol are just a short train ride away.
Visiting the Stroud Farmers’ Market is a must. It’s one of the biggest and best markets in the UK and is a paradise for food lovers with fresh, local produce including ales, ciders, cheeses, and preserves. The market is open every Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm at the Cornhill Market Place.
