Accommodation Highlight: Hostel Amigo Suites Downtown in the Heart of Mexico City

Hostel Amigo Suites is one of those rare hostels that truly impresses. Forget the typical image of dingy dorm rooms and dirty bathrooms. Amigo Suites Downtown offers the style, space, amenities, and helpful staff you’d expect from a 5-star hotel, all within a funky, friendly hostel setting.

Our room was spacious, featuring a queen and a double bed, with ample closet, cupboard, and dresser space. The large, clean shower provided hot water with excellent pressure, making it feel like a scalp massage.

The bathroom was clean and well-stocked, the beds were comfortable, and there was a small TV mounted high on the wall. A small balcony overlooked a relatively quiet back road, and the room was tastefully decorated in bright, funky Mexican colors.

The hostel offers a variety of dorms and suites with kitchenettes, all of which appeared clean and comfortable. Some rooms have less natural light, so it’s a good idea to check a few before deciding.

If we had to nitpick, the towels were a bit old, and the windows weren’t completely sealed, but noise was never an issue, and we slept peacefully every night.

The staff at Amigo Suites spoke perfect English and were incredibly helpful with everything from booking buses to recommending good places to eat. They offer numerous tours around Mexico City, but when we wanted to explore independently, they provided us with a map and directions without hesitation.

The staff seemed to know every bus route, metro line, and taxi cost, answering all our questions with ease. This level of service is usually expected from high-end hotels, making it a pleasant surprise in a budget hostel.

The beautiful rooftop terrace overlooks a bustling Mexico City street and Santa Domingo Plaza. There are computers for guests to use and a bar on the roof. Breakfast is served at 8:30 am on the terrace, and dinner is served at 6:30 pm, both included in the stay.

The front desk can help organize tours, taxi rides, and almost anything else you might need. The showers are consistently hot with great pressure.

The location is unbeatable, right in the center of the historical zone and just a couple of blocks from the main city plaza and cathedral. If you want to be in the heart of the action, this is the place to stay.

With huge rooms, great service, an unbeatable location, and free breakfast and dinner, you might think it’s expensive, but it’s not. We were amazed by the value for money at Hostel Amigo Suites Downtown.

This hostel is comparable to only one other we’ve stayed at in Merida, Mexico. With excellent service, big rooms, comfy beds, and reliable hot water showers, Hostel Amigo Suites Downtown is one of the best hostels we’ve ever stayed at. If you’re heading to Mexico City, you can’t go wrong with this place. Definitely check them out.
