Exploring Canada: Our Fast-Paced Adventure Home, Plus a Special Giveaway!

After spending five amazing months in Grenada, we made a quick 10-day trip back to Canada to sort out some government paperwork and visit our families. It had been two years since we last saw our younger siblings.

Now, we’re in Barbados and wanted to share how our trip up north went. Normally, I would use my brother’s spare car when visiting Canada, but since he’s selling it, we rented a car through EconomyBookings.com. When we got to the Alamo office at the airport, we were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a stylish 2015 Dodge Charger!

We stayed at my brother’s place in the countryside, and during our short stay, nine family members (fourteen if you include my brother and his family) visited us. Although it was hectic, it was wonderful to see everyone. We indulged in too much wine, food, shopping, mini-golf, and board games but didn’t get nearly enough time with our loved ones.

One thing we always miss about Canada is the food. We cooked up a storm with ribs, beef chili, homemade soup, roasted chicken, and fabulous burritos. My mom also prepared a giant ham meal, and we enjoyed delicious leftovers for breakfast. We even ordered from our favorite pizza place, Coco Brooks in Calgary. We also satisfied our cravings with Japanese food and Subway.

By the end of the 10 days, we were exhausted but managed to complete most of our errands. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to spend much time on our website and online business, so now we’re playing catch up.

On our last night in Canada, we took a midnight flight to Toronto with a 3.5-hour layover, then flew to Barbados. Arriving on the island felt invigorating, thanks to the warm, humid air. Although we had mild weather in Canada, our skin, hair, and lips struggled with the dryness of the north. The tropical air in the Caribbean felt like an instant spa treatment.

We’re house-sitting in Barbados for six weeks, and the lovely homeowner, Jenny, picked us up from the airport. We are staying in her beautiful home, about 10 minutes from the sea, with her two adorable golden retrievers, Hesus and Honey. Jenny left us her car, so we’ll be exploring the island and sharing our adventures with you.

A couple of days after arriving, I celebrated my 31st birthday! We spent it at Payne’s Bay Beach with some sunshine, beers, and swimming. We enjoyed tasty fish sandwiches and french fries at a charming beach bar while watching the waves on the beautiful Barbadian coastline. Not a bad way to spend a birthday!

We are already loving Barbados and are excited to share more blogs, guides, photos, and videos from this beautiful island, so stay tuned!
