Accommodation Feature: Cancun Bed & Breakfast

When Peter and Veronica, the owners of B&B Cancun, picked us up at the airport, we instantly felt a great connection. Peter’s Canadian and Veronica’s Mexican roots made their hospitality blend perfectly, making us feel like part of their family.

The B&B offers only three rooms, with the rest of the home shared between guests and the owners, creating a homestay vibe that we love. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a choice of beer or margarita, and since it wasn’t yet noon, we opted for beer.

Our check-in was remarkably relaxed. Instead of dealing with long procedures or pushy receptionists, we were shown our room and left to unwind and unpack at our own pace. The room itself was exceptional, featuring a huge king-size bed with a soft down comforter and fluffy pillows, a large LCD TV mounted on the side wall, colorful artwork, ample closet space, and a spacious, clean bathroom with a massive rain shower head. All this for just $65 USD per night, including breakfast—amazing!

The bed deserves a special mention. With high-thread count sheets, soft pillows, and a thick pillow-top mattress, lying on it felt like sleeping on a cloud. It’s something we’ll fondly remember, especially when staying in other hotels with less comfortable mattresses.

Peter and Veronica, the gracious hosts, are delightful and incredibly knowledgeable about the area. They offered plenty of assistance and shared fascinating stories. Peter originally came to Mexico for a one-week trip and ended up moving south after meeting Veronica. They’ve since traveled across Mexico, Canada, and the States before setting up their successful B&B.

The backyard features a beautiful pool surrounded by a colorful beach mural. Peter amusingly pointed out that you don’t need a beach when it’s painted right in front of you. Breakfast is served every morning, with options ranging from bacon and eggs with fruit and coffee to traditional Mexican dishes like Molletes and Chilaquiles.

B&B Cancun also offers a convenient airport pickup for just $20, much cheaper than a taxi. The rooms have a few TV channels and a selection of free DVDs for guests.

Outside the house, there’s a cozy walled courtyard with tables, chairs, and a BBQ. The living room is spacious and comfortable, with satellite TV available for guests to enjoy.

The location might not be right in the middle of the action, but it’s perfect if you prefer to stay in a residential neighborhood, with local neighbors and tasty traditional restaurants nearby. It’s only a short 20-minute bus ride or a 40-peso taxi fare into town. We do prefer being closer to town but catching a bus wasn’t any trouble as they were frequent and quick.

B&B Cancun offers exceptional value for money. For just $65 per night ($60 for one person), you get a beautiful room, TV, hot shower, pool, breakfast, and an incredibly comfortable bed. They even offer discounts for longer stays and a complimentary welcome drink. We’ve stayed in many places around the world for $65, but none have offered as much as B&B Cancun.

We highly recommend B&B Cancun to anyone visiting Cancun who wants more than the typical hotel or resort experience. Staying here felt like a homestay with a warm, welcoming couple who treated us like family. The value for money is unbeatable, with top-notch sleep quality. The location might not be central, but the frequent buses make getting to town easy and fun. We hope to return to B&B Cancun on our next trip to Cancun after visiting Isla Mujeres.
